Laura Wolvaardt produced a record-breaking performance as South Africa completed a 3-0 T20I series victory over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.

The Proteas captain smashed an unbeaten 126 - the highest T20I score by a South African woman - as South Africa posted 217 for four.

Wolvaardt shared a 173-run partnership with Karabo Meso, who remained unbeaten on a career-best 50, Firdose Moonda reports for Cricinfo.

The captain reached her century from 54 deliveries before accelerating further, scoring 25 from the next six balls. Her innings also took her beyond 3,000 T20I runs, making her the first South African to reach the landmark.

Zimbabwe's reply collapsed early, leaving them 35 for six in the eighth over. They eventually reached 116 for eight.

Annerie Dercksen led the bowling effort with five wickets for 15 runs, becoming only the third South African woman to take five wickets in a T20I innings.

Meso was forced from the field while taking a catch and was later diagnosed with a groin strain. Jae-Leigh Filander took over her wicketkeeping duties.
