Shoprite executives receive R115m in share awards

Thirteen Shoprite Holdings executives have received share awards worth a combined R115 million under various incentive schemes.

CEO Pieter Engelbrecht received shares valued at R35.5 million, while CFO Anton De Bruyn was awarded R26.3 million, Hilton Tarrant reports Moneyweb.

Deputy CEO Joseph Brönn received R13.9 million and COO Willem Hunlun R11.1 million.

De Bruyn also transferred almost 37 000 shares to the Lazz Family Trust, of which he is a beneficiary. The shares were valued at about R11.5 million on Friday.

Shoprite said further remuneration details for its executive directors would be disclosed in its annual report.

Engelbrecht received total remuneration of about R87 million for the 2025 financial year, including salary, incentives and the vesting of shares under the group's executive share plan. De Bruyn's total remuneration was R35.3 million.
