JSE posts strong first-half earnings growth

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) delivered a strong financial performance in the first half of 2026, reporting double-digit growth in earnings, revenue and profit.
Money reports that the JSE’s performance was driven by increased equity market activity, disciplined cost management and growth across its core businesses.
Net profit after tax rose 16.9% to R652 million for the six months ended 30 June, while headline earnings per share increased 18.8% to 816.2 cents.
Operating income climbed 14.6% to R2 billion and total income grew 15.1% to R1.98 billion.
The exchange said stronger equity market revenues and an 8.1% increase in non-trading income supported the results, although net finance income declined due to lower interest rates on cash balances.
Chief executive Valdene Reddy said the JSE had expanded its data and services offering, maintained strict cost discipline and continued investing in capabilities to support long-term growth.
The bourse generated R625 million in net cash from operations and ended June with R1.9 billion in cash, excluding bond investments.
During the period, it facilitated R8.4 billion in capital raising, expanded bond and structured product listings, introduced spread trading on bond exchange-traded products and increased colocation capacity to meet growing client demand.
