An Ode to Motown is back on the Mandela Stage at Joburg Theatre from 4–13 September 2026, returning after a sold-out debut season.

The refreshed run brings new additions to the setlist alongside standout male vocal group iComplete, who take on a bigger role this time round with their harmonies and contemporary South African style.

The production is directed by James Ngcobo, with choreography by Lulu Mlangeni and musical direction by Margaret Motsage. The returning cast includes Liesl Penniken, Lerato Mvelase, Tamara Dey, Hlengiwe Pearl and Anele Precious Mthethwa, alongside iComplete and a live band.

While many of the original crowd favourites remain, the updated show introduces fresh vocal pairings and new highlights. iComplete lead soul-stirring renditions of DeBarge's “All This Love” and the Commodores' “Sail On”, while Mthethwa and Pearl join forces for “Crush”. Dey delivers a solo turn on Stevie Wonder's “Knocks Me Off My Feet”.

To mark iComplete's expanded role, Joburg Theatre commissioned an editorial shoot with the group, styled by designer Paledi Pulse. The shoot leans on bold tailoring, rich colours and vintage flair to give the classic Motown gentleman a modern, fashion-forward update.
