Rooskrantz finds progress amid world championship disappointment

South African gymnast Caitlin Rooskrantz has identified renewed confidence on vault as a significant achievement at her sixth World Championships, despite results falling short of her expectations.
Speaking to Sport South Africa after competing in Rotterdam, the two-time Olympian said completing another world championship campaign was a source of pride after a difficult season that included illness at the Commonwealth Games.
Rooskrantz scored 11.866 on uneven bars, her strongest apparatus, before regrouping to register 12.233 on balance beam and 12.366 on vault, Alwyn Labuschagne reports for Sport South Africa.
The vault performance held particular significance: it marked her return to her full competition vault after more than two years.
She said rebuilding confidence on the apparatus had required a lengthy process, making its successful return on the world stage an important personal milestone.
Rooskrantz also credited experience with helping her move beyond a disappointing routine and concentrate on the next apparatus.
Although still ambitious, she said her years in international competition had brought a greater appreciation of the opportunity to compete at that level.
