Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at Paris Fashion Week, performing her 2002 hit I’m Alive beneath the Eiffel Tower at the conclusion of L’Oréal’s annual show.

The Canadian singer performed at the event after recently returning to the stage in Paris, marking another appearance following her long absence from live performances.

Emma Saunders reports for the BBC that Dion, who was diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in 2022, appeared in a full-length ruched black velvet gown.

She was joined after the performance by several of L’Oréal’s high-profile ambassadors, including Viola Davis, Simone Ashley, Aja Naomi King and Eva Longoria.

Dion’s appearance follows her comeback performance in Paris earlier this month. It was her first concert appearance since a 2020 show in New Jersey, after the Covid pandemic interrupted her tour.

The fashion event also featured a high-profile line-up of celebrities. Kendall Jenner walked the runway in a sheer black halterneck dress with a thigh split and ivory corset, while Cara Delevingne appeared in a sparkling red sheer dress with a train.

Rihanna attended the Matières Fécales show in a shimmering copper two-piece worn over sheer black lingerie. The label was responsible for the angel-winged look worn by Zendaya at the New York premiere of The Odyssey earlier this summer.

Wicked star Cynthia Erivo was also in Paris for a Tiffany and Musée des Arts Décoratifs event. Paris Fashion Week, which is presenting women’s spring/summer collections, continues until 6 October.

Louis Vuitton, Tom Ford, Schiaparelli, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Balenciaga and Loewe are among the other major labels scheduled to show. Particular attention is being paid to Dior and Chanel after both houses appointed new artistic directors.

Matthieu Blazy became Chanel’s creative director in early 2025, while Jonathan Anderson took over at Dior last summer.
